Cyberpunk 2077, developed by CD Projekt Red is not only a legendary futuristic role-playing game. What it presents is a world dominated by technology and large companies, and where regular people fight to make a living. The setting, Night City, is full of corporate cyberware, and a massive divide between “high and low-class” citizens.

But, what is hidden underneath the exterior of this world? This is the biggest question when it comes to analyzing this story. Is it only a vision of the future, or does it contain some of the aspects of the present?

Here we discover what is behind the curtain and how the identified politics could be reflected in our society. If you enjoy nightlife, but still love the comfort of your own home, playing in an online live casino is the best way to combine those worlds. Try it out for yourself, and live out your digitally high-tech life!

The Role of Corporations

In Cyberpunk 2077, corporations have taken control of nearly everything. Mega companies like Arasaka and Militech not only own vast resources but even armies. Governments are almost non-existent, and corporations rule the streets.

This idea of corporate control is not just a fantasy of the future. In our world, large companies already also have enormous power. Giants like Google, Amazon, and Facebook have a huge influence on our daily lives, often more than we realize.

While they do not have private armies, their control over our information and economy is undeniable. This is seen through how they shape laws and policies in many countries. Lobbying is one clear example of how companies influence politics and boost sales often favoring their interests over those of the public.

Inequality and Class Divide

It quickly becomes apparent just how unequal Night City is in Cyberpunk 2077. On one side, some billionaires can afford to live in towering skyscrapers without even glancing at the problems down below.

On the other side, there are the poor, who have to live in dilapidated tenements or dangerous districts. The polarity between the classes is as vivid as in many modern cities. Income disparity persists in a world where the rich are becoming richer, while the poor remain so forever.

Real-life people are also left with no other options than risking their lives by carrying out dangerous careers or turning to criminal activity to feed themselves. Many can identify with situations where they are forced to work in jobs earning very little or are exposed to hazardous conditions daily. This makes the game’s dystopian world feel much closer to reality.

The Power of Technology

Both in the game and in reality, we see the great impact of tech. Folks in the story can swap out biological body parts with bionic limbs. This enables them to acquire power such as speed, strength, or even higher intellect. Although we do not possess such machinery at present, we have seen major advancements in AI, genetic engineering, and robotics. It is all happening very fast.

But, just like the story shows, there are risks. Technology can be used to control people. Mega corporations use it to watch and manipulate the population. Yet, governments even now gather vast amounts of data about us, often without our knowledge or consent. This raises important questions about general privacy and freedom.

Resistance and Rebellion

Despite the overwhelming power of corporations, the title also shows us the importance of resistance. Throughout the plot, various groups and individuals fight back against the oppressive system. These rebels, called “Edgerunners,” represent the desire for freedom. They do this by fighting against corruption.
