Games Market to Grow by 4.6% by the End of 2025

According to the latest data, the global gaming market is set to grow by 4.6% by the end of 2025. With 3.27 billion gamers, and most of them coming from mobile devices, global gaming revenue is set to reach $236.9 billion, which is great news as we move into 2026. Currently, mobile accounts for 55% of this, with the free-to-play monetisation model helping to fuel the current growth spike.

Developers are Working on Lower-Fidelity Versions of Games

As new games are released, we are also seeing other interesting trends emerge. One of them is that developers are already working to build advanced lower-fidelity versions of games for companion devices and lower-end PCs. The gaming market, which includes everything from subscriptions to software and hardware, is going to grow from $236.9 billion in 2025 to $280.1 billion by 2031. With the gaming market being so mature, it’s not a surprise to see things explode as they have done. Blockchain gaming, the metaverse, generative AI and more have contributed to this as well, and even though inflation rates are quite high, mass firings have helped to balance the books while paving the way to healthier and more sustainable growth.

Live Service Games are Exploding Right Now

Right now, we are also seeing a big spike in live service games. The live-service spike saw a lot of companies come out on top, especially with the success of big, yet unexpected titles. Online games look to be defining the future of gaming as well, especially when you look at the fact that they are continually updated and refined, with micro-updates helping to stop huge updates that often stop players from coming back.

Live gaming is also on the rise, with the live casino market experiencing unprecedented growth. This is helping to contribute to the current gaming numbers for people coming from a mobile device as well. The live casino UK sector is seeing new games released all the time, with titles that range from blackjack to roulette, and more. Part of this comes down to people wanting more authentic and immersive experiences, but at the same time, as most games are playable on mobile, and as mobile gaming is booming right now, it’s really aligning with the current demands of the market.

Even though big players are benefiting from the gaming boom, we are also seeing smaller developers experiencing a lot of success. Smaller and more efficient games are taking the world by storm, and with gaming budgets spiralling out of control, it’s now easier for smaller companies to find their niche. Instead of trying to compete with the big companies and what they are putting out, smaller companies are trying to hedge their bets by testing out new ideas on a smaller scale.

With live updates being so big, it’s easy to take a smaller concept and scale it, which is another reason why the gaming market is set to grow by 4.5% by the end of the year. News like this is not only positive for the sector, but also for gamers, as growth like this often leads to exciting announcements and technological advancements.
